Woof Day Ltd ("we", "us", "our") is the data controller responsible for your personal data. We are registered in Ireland. Contact: admin@woof.day
This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, and protect your personal data when you use woof.day ("the Platform"), in compliance with the General Data Protection Regulation (EU) 2016/679 ("GDPR"), the Irish Data Protection Act 2018, and the ePrivacy Directive 2002/58/EC.
2. Data we collect
Data you provide
- Account information: name, email address, password (hashed)
- Profile information: display name, pet details (name, breed, photo)
- Pro information: business name, location, services, availability, portfolio photos
- Booking details: service type, date, time, pet information
- Reviews: rating, comment text
- Communications: contact form messages, support enquiries
- Payment information: processed by Stripe (we do not store card details)
Data collected automatically
- Device information: browser type, operating system, device type
- Usage data: pages visited, features used, session duration
- IP address and approximate location (for search functionality)
- Cookies and similar technologies (see Section 8)
3. Legal basis for processing
We process your personal data on the following legal bases under Article 6 GDPR:
- Contract (Art. 6(1)(b)): To provide the Platform, process bookings, manage your account
- Legitimate interest (Art. 6(1)(f)): To improve the Platform, prevent fraud, ensure security, send service-related communications
- Consent (Art. 6(1)(a)): For marketing communications (you can withdraw consent at any time)
- Legal obligation (Art. 6(1)(c)): To comply with tax, accounting, and regulatory requirements
4. How we use your data
- Operate the Platform and provide the booking service
- Match Customers with Pros based on location and availability
- Process payments via Stripe
- Display reviews and portfolio content
- Send transactional emails (booking confirmations, review requests)
- Send marketing communications (only with your consent)
- Analyse usage to improve the Platform
- Detect and prevent fraud or abuse
- Comply with legal obligations
5. Who we share data with
- Pros and Customers: Booking details are shared between the parties to a booking (name, pet info, booking time)
- Stripe: Payment processing (Stripe acts as an independent controller for payment data; see Stripe's Privacy Policy)
- Resend: Email delivery service (data processor, processes email addresses for delivery only)
- Fly.io: Cloud hosting provider (data processor, hosts the Platform infrastructure)
- Google: Maps/Places API for location search (subject to Google's Privacy Policy)
We do not sell your personal data. We do not share data with advertisers.
6. International transfers
Some of our service providers (Stripe, Fly.io) may process data outside the European Economic Area (EEA). Where this occurs, we ensure appropriate safeguards are in place, including Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs) approved by the European Commission, or adequacy decisions under Article 45 GDPR.
7. Data retention
- Account data: retained while your account is active, deleted within 30 days of account deletion request
- Booking records: retained for 7 years for tax and legal compliance
- Reviews: retained for the lifetime of the Pro's profile (you may request removal)
- Contact form messages: retained for 12 months
- Usage analytics: anonymised and retained indefinitely
8. Cookies
We use the following cookies:
- Essential cookies: Session management, authentication, security. These are necessary for the Platform to function and do not require consent.
- Functional cookies: Remembering your preferences (e.g. location). Based on legitimate interest.
We do not currently use advertising or tracking cookies. If this changes, we will update this policy and implement a cookie consent mechanism in accordance with the ePrivacy Directive.
9. Your rights under GDPR
Under GDPR, you have the following rights regarding your personal data:
- Right of access (Art. 15): Request a copy of your personal data
- Right to rectification (Art. 16): Correct inaccurate or incomplete data
- Right to erasure (Art. 17): Request deletion of your data ("right to be forgotten")
- Right to restrict processing (Art. 18): Limit how we use your data
- Right to data portability (Art. 20): Receive your data in a structured, machine-readable format
- Right to object (Art. 21): Object to processing based on legitimate interest or for direct marketing
- Right to withdraw consent: Where processing is based on consent, you may withdraw at any time without affecting the lawfulness of prior processing

10. Data security
We implement appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect your data, including:
- Encryption in transit (TLS/HTTPS)
- Password hashing (bcrypt)
- Access controls and authentication
- Regular security reviews
- Secure cloud infrastructure with Fly.io
11. Children's data
The Platform is not intended for use by children under 18. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If we become aware that we have collected data from a child, we will delete it promptly.
12. Data breach notification
In the event of a personal data breach that poses a risk to your rights and freedoms, we will notify the Irish Data Protection Commission (DPC) within 72 hours as required by Article 33 GDPR, and notify affected individuals without undue delay where required by Article 34 GDPR.

14. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by email or through the Platform. The "Last updated" date at the top reflects the most recent revision.
